When it comes to starting a business, the wedding industry is a great place to be. There’s no denying that. You have busy seasons, and seasons where not much goes on.
With fewer weddings taking place in August, you‘ll have more opportunities to network with other wedding professionals in your area.
As a people person, networking is one of my favorite things to do. Our local Chamber of Commerce puts on networking events on the regular. I love meeting other business owners and making connections you would have never guessed would ever happen.
Attend industry events, meetups, or even just go out for coffee with someone new from the your local business community. You’d be surprised how someone who runs a local massage therapy practice can help you in your entrepreneurial journey.
The connections you make now could be invaluable later down the road when things pick back up again in September/October!
Let’s look at numbers:
- This month, we booked 17 weddings.
- The amount of sales we made this month was $21,968.93
- The biggest cost for us each month is permit fees. We paid a total of $1,691.61 in permit costs.
- Our other two main expenses are to the florist and baker: $205.
- That brings our total expenses to $1,896.61 (not taking into account fuel costs, on-the-road food, taxes, and other incidentals).
- Total profit in August comes to $20,072.32.
Being a business owner can be a lonesome experience.
Getting out and meeting other lonesome business owners can be a good way to blow off steam and hear others’ challenges. It will make you feel not so alone in your struggle.
Go out and grab some wine, or a coffee, with someone not in your industry. Share your big ideas for where you see yourself in 5 years.
You’ll be amazed at what others can share with you for the cost of a coffee that may change the direction of your life.
