After such a crazy fall season, December hits, and things slow down significantly.

Which, let’s be honesy, isn’t exactly unwelcomed.  After three months of the busiest we see in the year, having the slow winter months ahead of me is a great time to catch up on all of the projects – personal and professional – I had put off for 90 days.

Plus, I just like December weddings.  There’s a certain energy in the air.  Everything feels so festive and joyful, and the winter days are still new, crisp, and exciting.

On top of that, I can combine wedding outings with some holiday shopping.  When you are out at beautiful location sharing someone’s wedding day, nothing is better than getting a hot chai and walking around beautifully decorated shops and thinking of all the ways I can make my girls’ Christmas extra special.

It’s just heavenly!

But enough about my love of December:

  • This month, we booked a leisurely 13 weddings
  • The amount of sales we made this month was $15,839.79.
  • The biggest cost for us each month is permit fees. We paid a total of $1,219 in permit costs.
  • Our other two main expenses are to the florist and baker: $575 total in November.
  • That brings our total expenses to $1,794 (not taking into account fuel costs, on-the-road food, taxes, and other incidentals).
  • Total profit in September comes to $14,045.79.

For business owners, the end of a busy season can be a welcome relief; it’s time to focus on YOU.

As a business owner, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and forget to take care of yourself. Now that work has (thankfully) slowed down for a while, it means you finally don’t have to put work first all the time. Be sure to schedule some time for yourself, whether it’s for relaxation, hobbies, or just catching up with friends and family.

It can be tough to find a balance between work and personal time, but it’s important to make time for yourself. After all, you’re the only one who can take care of you. So take a break from work and do something you enjoy. Your business will still be there when you get back.
