August 1, 2022

July is hot as balls.

There. I said it.

Especially when you are wearing full suits (officiant) or are carrying camera equipment and are squatting, moving around, getting shots (photographer).

July and August aren’t my favorite months to perform weddings.  Not to mention the sunset weddings that take place at, like, 8:00pm.

I’d rather be home, sipping some beer on my back patio, and grilling brats while lighting sparklers for my kids.

July is actually a month I really enjoy doing sunRISE weddings.  Not hot.  Great lighting.  Getting work done early.

There’s just a different energy about the morning time that I feel compliments a wedding.

That being said, July and August are two of our slower months.  They are the January and February of summer (if that makes any sense) which is fine for me!  They are also the months when emails will start flooding in for fall weddings!

Expect to spend your slower months when you are not out doing weddings all day inside, at your home office desk, answering emails.  There will be a bunch of them!

The numbers:

  • This month, we booked 22 weddings
  • The amount of sales we made this month was $29,912.03
  • The biggest cost for us each month is permit fees. We paid a total of $2,303.23 in permit costs.
  • Our other two main expenses are to the florist and baker: $106.
  • That brings our total expenses to $2,759.42 (not taking into account fuel costs, on-the-road food, taxes, and other incidentals).
  • Total profit in July comes to $27,502.80.

As the years progress for your business, you’ll slowly be able to map out the natural ebb and flow of busy seasons.

You’ll be able to plan vacations, family events, and other important things.

Even more, you’ll be able to AFFORD these things both financially and personally.

By personally affording something, I mean when you have taken control of your life, you are going to feel more whole.  You are going to be able to give more of yourself to the people who matter. You will be used to accepting only what YOU want in your life and not what others want from you.

You deserve that for yourself and for those you love.  Give it to them.  You won’t regret taking the chance.
